400G OSFP DR4+ 2km Transceiver Overview
General Description
This product is a 400Gb/s Octal Small Form-factor Pluggable (OSFP) optical module made for 2km optical communication tasks. It takes 8 channels of 50Gb/s electrical data and converts it to 4 channels of 100Gb/s optical signals. This results in a total data rate of 400Gb/s. The process is reversed on the receiver side, with 4 optical signals of 100Gb/s each being converted back to 8 channels of 50Gb/s electrical data.
A special type of optical fiber cable with an MTP/MPO-12 connector can be plugged into the OSFP DR4+ module. There are guide pins inside that ensure everything aligns correctly. You shouldn't twist the cable to keep the channels lined up properly. The electrical connection is made through a connector that meets the OSFP MSA standard.
This product is built according to specific design rules, known as the OSFP Multi-Source Agreement (MSA). It's made to withstand tough conditions like extreme temperatures, humidity, and electrical interference.
Functional Description
The module has 4 parallel channels that work on a 1310nm center wavelength, running at 100G per channel. The transmission part includes a four-channel EML driver along with 4 parallel EMLs.
For receiving, a PD array works with a four-channel TIA to change the 400Gb/s optical input into 4 channels of 100Gb/s electrical signals. A special gearbox in the design converts 8 channels of 25GBaud PAM4 signals to 4 channels of 50GBaud PAM4 signals. There's also an 8-channel retimer and FEC block integrated within this part.
The electrical interface meets the IEEE 802.3bs and OSFP MSA standards for both sending and receiving. The optical interface also complies with OSFP MSA, and it uses an MPO-12 connector.
