Pro-Optics Launches Next-Generation ST 2110 IP-SDI Gateway Series for IP Broadcast Production

2026-06-06

Compact, Feature-Rich Gateways Bridge Legacy SDI Infrastructure with Modern ST 2110 IP Networks — Available in 25G Dual-Port and 100G Single-Port Configurations

[City, Date] — Pro-Optics, a leading innovator in broadcast optical networking solutions, today announced the availability of two new ST 2110 IP-SDI Optical Gateway products: the 2X 25G SFP28 ST 2110 IP-SDI Gateway and the 100G QSFP28 ST 2110 IP-SDI Gateway. Designed to accelerate the transition from traditional SDI infrastructures to fully IP-based broadcast workflows, these compact gateways deliver uncompressed, ultra-low-latency video conversion in a remarkably small form factor — measuring just 140 × 90 × 25mm and weighing 300 grams.

Bridging the Gap Between SDI and IP in Live Production

As broadcast facilities worldwide accelerate their migration to IP-based production, the challenge of maintaining interoperability with existing SDI equipment remains a significant operational concern. Pro-Optics' new ST 2110 gateway series directly addresses this challenge, enabling broadcasters, systems integrators, and live production companies to protect their existing SDI investments while fully embracing the flexibility, scalability, and efficiency of SMPTE ST 2110 IP workflows.

Both gateway models support 5 simultaneous video capture channels and 5 simultaneous video output channels, delivering seamless bidirectional signal conversion between 12G-SDI and ST 2110 IP networks. The gateways support a comprehensive range of video formats, including HD (720p, 1080i, 1080p) and Ultra HD/4K (2160p) at frame rates from 23.98 to 60fps — covering virtually every format used in today's professional broadcast environments.

Two Models to Fit Every Production Scale

2X 25G SFP28 ST 2110 IP-SDI Gateway

The dual-port 25GbE model offers two SFP28 network interfaces, providing built-in link redundancy through SMPTE 2022-7 seamless protection switching. This makes it an ideal choice for mission-critical live production environments where network failover without signal interruption is essential. The dual 25G architecture also offers deployment flexibility, allowing direct connection to 25GbE network switches or direct device-to-device links.

100G QSFP28 ST 2110 IP-SDI Gateway

For high-density broadcast facilities requiring maximum throughput, the single-port 100GbE QSFP28 model delivers the full 100Gbps bandwidth needed to support high-channel-count 4K and HD uncompressed video streams simultaneously. This model additionally supports up to 4 × 12G-SDI bidirectional channels across dedicated SKU configurations, making it the preferred choice for large-scale broadcast center deployments, OB van fleets, and enterprise media infrastructure projects.

Key Features and Technical Highlights

  • Comprehensive SDI and HDMI Connectivity

Each gateway provides 4 × 12G-SDI Mini-BNC bidirectional ports — independently configurable as inputs or outputs — alongside 1 × HDMI 2.0 input and 1 × HDMI 2.0 output. Optional SMA/SMB internal coaxial connectors are available for embedded system integration, while the HDMI interface optionally supports a 20-pin FPC connector for compact, cable-free internal installation.

  • Full ST 2110 Standard Compliance

Both gateways are fully compliant with the SMPTE ST 2110-20 (uncompressed video, IGMP v2/v3), ST 2110-21 (traffic shaping: Narrow sender; Narrow, Wide, Synchronous, and Asynchronous receiver), and ST 2110-30 (PCM audio, 48kHz/24bit) standards. Support for NMOS IS-04 (v1.3.2) device discovery and registration, NMOS IS-05 (v1.1.2)connection management, NMOS BCP-002-01 natural grouping, and NMOS BCP-004-01 receiver capabilities ensures seamless integration into modern, software-defined broadcast control environments.

  • Broadcast-Grade Video Processing

    • Color depth: 8-bit and 10-bit YUV 4:2:2

    • Color space support: REC 601, REC 709, REC 2020

    • Audio: 48kHz / 24-bit PCM sampling

    • SDI specifications: SMPTE 292M, 296M, 424M, 425M-A class, 2081/2082

  • Flexible Power and Management Options

Both models feature a 100Mbps RJ45 management interface with optional Power over Ethernet (PoE PD) input, simplifying installation in rack and remote environments by eliminating the need for separate power runs. DC 12V input is also provided as standard. An intuitive web browser-based management interface allows for zero-client configuration and monitoring from any networked device. Firmware updates are supported via USB; the 100G model additionally supports TF card-based firmware updates for added operational flexibility.

  • Optional Compression License Upgrade

With an optional software license upgrade, both gateways can enable ST 2110 IP stream encoding and decoding, supporting up to 16 HD channels or 4 UHD channels per processing board. This capability unlocks cost-effective remote production (REMI) and cloud production workflows in bandwidth-constrained wide-area network environments, without requiring additional hardware.

Extensive SKU Selection for Every Application

Pro-Optics recognizes that no two broadcast facilities have identical requirements. Accordingly, both gateway series are offered across a broad matrix of application-specific SKUs, covering:

  • Ingest (SDI/HDMI → ST 2110 IP): 1×, 2×, or 4× SDI input configurations; 1× HDMI input; combined SDI + HDMI input

  • Playout (ST 2110 IP → SDI/HDMI): 1×, 2×, or 4× SDI output configurations; 1× HDMI output; combined SDI + HDMI output

  • Bidirectional: Simultaneous SDI-to-IP and IP-to-SDI conversion on the same unit (1× or 2× channels)

The 100G QSFP28 series offers 15 distinct SKUs, while the 2X 25G SFP28 series provides 10 SKUs — giving systems integrators and end users precise fit-for-purpose selection without over-specifying hardware.

Ideal Applications

  • Broadcast Centers & Television Studios: IP infrastructure upgrades and SDI legacy device integration

  • Outside Broadcast (OB) Vehicles: Compact dimensions and wide temperature tolerance suit demanding mobile environments

  • Sports and Live Event Production: Ultra-low conversion latency ensures frame-accurate, real-time performance

  • REMI and Cloud Production: Optional compression licensing reduces WAN bandwidth demands for remote contribution

  • Media Asset Management and Monitoring: HDMI 2.0 outputs enable direct local monitoring alongside IP stream distribution

  • Embedded and Custom System Integration: Internal connector options (SMA/SMB coaxial, 20-pin HDMI FPC) and omittable USB/external power connectors allow for deeply embedded deployments
